HAIFA & ACRE (AKKA)
The writer and Palestinian politician from Haifa, Emile Habibi, has humorously described the traditional opposition between ancient Acre (Akka), heir to the Ptolemaic dynasty and holder of traditions, and modern Haifa, a center for industries, trade unions, politics and culture, whose rise intensified with the arrival of the railroad at the beginning of the 20 th century and the building of refineries.
